Circle of Grace (grades K-5)

This week’s class will focus on the Circle of Grace training.

Circle of Grace is not a protection program focused on stranger-danger. Our Family Session focuses on each person’s uniqueness and how we can practice safe and healthy relationships with others.

PDF p. 3: Opening Prayer

p. 4-5: Orientation: What is a Circle of Grace?

p. 5: Activity #1: Happy & Sad Emojis

Each child will color a double-sided emoji (one side happy, one side sad).

Each family takes post-it notes and writes at least one answer to each question:

  • What are some nice things that other people do or say?

  • What are some hurtful things that other people do or say?

  • What are some nice things you do or say?

  • What might be some hurtful things you do or say?

As a large group, we will read the post-it notes and children flip over the emoji depending on whether they think it’s a nice or hurtful thing to say/do.

p. 6-8: Activity #2: Red-Yellow-Green Scenarios

We’ll review what each color means (green = go ahead, yellow = be careful, red = stop, unsafe).

There will be three color markers at different tables. We’ll read the marked scenarios on p. 8 aloud. Everyone moves to the colored table that matches the scenario.

p. 9: Activity #3: Safe & Unsafe Secrets

Discussion questions on p. 9.

p. 10: Discussion: Asking for Help & Trusted Adults

Part 1: practice asking for help. We’ll review this in large group and then practice in family groups (a cheat sheet is available on p. 13)

Part 2: Who are three adults in your life (besides your parents) whom you trust and would be comfortable approaching when you are in trouble? Write their names on the back of the printout.

p. 11: Closing Prayer

p. 12-13: Parent follow-up sheet on Stoplight and Safety Plan
