Father Dan Hebert was born in Kankakee, Illinois, on February 20, 1950. He attended Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Grade School, then graduatd from Bishop McNamara High school in 1968. He entered the Brothers of Charity in 1969. He made his profession of vows on February 20, 1971, and was then transferred to Anchorage, AK, along with two other Brothers from his community. He was assigned to work in parishers with religious education programs while attending school.
In August of 1973 he began studies for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Anchorage at Holy Trinity Seminary. Part of his studies were at the University of Dallas where he received a BA degree in Philosophy and a Master of Divinity in Theology. He was ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Anchorage by Archbishop Francis T. Hurley on May 5, 1979.
Following ordination Father Dan has pastored several parishes in the Archdiocese and serves as Parochial Administor at Holy Cross Parish. He considers the most rewarding part of ministry is working directly with people. He has a passion for providing spiritual direction. Father Dan says "Without a doubt being a Priest is what God has called me to be. ...... I love being a priest.".
