Breakout Stations

  1. Fill out the New Friends Scavenger Hunt worksheet with ideas about yourself. Find friends with the same and have them write their name. If you missed the Sunday session, try to find friends at school!

  2. Cut the actions and organize if you think it is a good way or bad way to be a friend.

  3. Write the definitions of Virtues. If you have a Catechism book, you can find the definitions!

  4. Match the virtues that develop an authentic friendship from the bulletin.

Grades 7-12: Beatitudes and 10 Commandments

Games

We played 5 games:

  • The leader calls out one of the 10 Commandments and each players tries to hit the red cup that has the right number on it.

  • Players will sit around a circle and pass a stuffed animal around while music is playing. Once the music stops and whoever has the stuffed animal has to say one of the 10 Commandments.

  • Label 8 bowling pins with the 8 Beatitudes. The leader will say a prompt that correlates with one of the Beatitudes, and the players race to get the bowling ball to hit the right Beatitude.

  • One player will be blindfolded while the others will move and buzz around. The person who is blindfolded has to tag people who buzzes.

  • Players will find items around and try to correlate it with the 8 Beatitudes. Link to the answers.

You will be able to create 3 Kings paper toys or play an Epiphany game, and bring Holy Water with you wherever you go.


Prayer of the week


In the beginning of the session, Jerica will introduce a new tradition: Epiphany Home Blessing. You can bless your house by writing on your front door with chalk.

Then, we will do a Holy Water blessing at the Baptismal Font. Using a bottle necklace, you will be able to carry the Holy Water with you wherever you go. After the Holy Water blessing, you can paint your bottle necklace if you want.

Before the session ends, you can make your own 3 Kings paper toys or play an Epiphany game.

  • Candy Cane Fishing: Use a candy cane to collect 10 candy canes in a bowl.

  • Build a Snowman: Try to stick ping pong balls on a double-sided tape by blowing them across the table and make a sideways snowman.

  • Snowman Stack: Stack the marshmallows on a plate by using barbecue sticks.

  • Shovel the Snow: Use a spoon to move cotton balls from one bowl to the other.

  • Avalanche: Try to take out 10 ping pong balls out of an empty tissue box from having it tied to your back and you can only jump up and down.
