July 22, 1984 – Archbishop Hurley establishes Holy Cross Parish. Fr. Ernie Muellerleile is named as the first pastor.
The first Mass is held at Abbot Loop School.
A cross is placed at the corner of Lake Otis and Lore Road, marking the future home of the church building.
The parish began with 30 enrolled families and increased to 90 enrolled families in the first 6 months.
August 1, 1990: Sister Joan Oberle, C.PP.S., is assigned to the parish as Parish Associate. The weekend Masses are moved from Hanshew School and St. John Methodist Church to the storefront at the Postal Plaza at Lake Otis and Dowling Road.
October 1992: Deacon Bill Finnegan and his wife, Diane, are assigned to assist at Holy Cross Parish.
Summer 1993: Construction of the church is completed and the Masses are moved from the storefront to the church.
September 12, 1993: Archbishop Hurley dedicates the new church.
The parish’s feast day, The Feast of the Triumph of the Cross, is September 14.
